1st Fridays Art Walk Feedback

What the "art walkers"” are saying:

The 1st Fridays Art Walks have been just wonderful - I feel so alive and vibrant when I go out and take in the arts here. It’s very exciting to see everyone else out doing the same. It’s a great new development for Fairfield, a blessing really for this community.

Congrats on another incredible artwalk...I was literally over-the-top giddy with all the excitement happening in the art spaces on Friday.

The buzz on the 1st Fridays Art Walks gets hotter each month!
This one was the best yet! I went with 3 friends, one a visitor from out-of-state, who was just blown away, both by the caliber of art and the fun energy in the air!

I drove a few blocks off the square in every conceivable direction Friday evening, before I could find a place to park! I was amazed at the number of people who showed up for the Art Walk. I've never seen Fairfield quite so bustling. It made me proud, and somewhat envious that I no longer live there.

How can a town of 10,000 have 13 Art Galleries? Have art collectors caught on to what’s happening in Fairfield?! My friend and I drove down to Fairfield Friday and I couldn't believe the turnout! I've never seen Fairfield so bustling.

What the Gallery owners are saying:

Something amazing is being created!!! If it wasn't for the art walks and all the consistent (art) work I’m selling, I would have to be working at some uncreative part time job to pay for the gallery rent so I am totally appreciative of what has been created here – for all the artists and the entire town.

The last opening at AJAR was the best yet. Over 400 people came through, all with positive feedback. Eight works sold, mostly Cody Hudsons' limited edition silk-screens on paper, but also Dain Dallers' "SEA MONSTER" and a couple of Kim Turnbulls' and Troy Lumpkins' collaborative series. People could be seen rocking their custom AJAR gallery pins around the square. It was great not only to see the kids really into the show, but purchasing art as well.

Outside, I got permission from city council to block off three parking spaces in order to set up a video projector and screen to show Jennifer Reeders' renowned video [appeared in the 2000 Biennial at the Whitney Museum in NYC] "Nevermind." You should have seen some of the faces as unsuspecting people strolled along the Square last Friday night! Quotable of the night: "We're definitely not in Fairfield anymore!" A lady nearly shouted as she came through the door.
